Delegación de Paz de las FARC-EP / Monday 12 September 2016 / Español

We feel pleased to inform the country that yesterday, a first group of 13 minors, who were in our camps in the department of Antioquia, was handed over to the ICRC.

In the operation participated, in addition to two members of the ICRC, two representatives of the social organizations CONPAZ and ANZORC who complied with the important task of receiving and guiding the minors.

This humanitarian action took place according to the criteria and guiding principles set out in Joint Communique 70 of May 15, taking into account the best interests of the child.

We thank the ICRC, the social organizations ANZORC, CONPAZ and COALICO, as well as the whole Technical Committee for their invaluable support for this first operation.

We are sure that these children will have all their rights guaranteed, according to the provisions of the Special Comprehensive Program for Reintegration, Comprehensive repairation and Social Inclusion of children and adolescents who leave the FARC-EP camps.

The FARC-EP believes that the exit of minors from war zones is only a first step towards a better future for new generations. We must continue to work among all of us to ensure our children a future without child labor, malnutrition and violence of all kinds.
